Resources on the Web

Here is a summary of resources that are located on the interwebz. If you find other good resources please put them in the comments and I will add them to this list.

How to Build a Wall:

Climbing Holds and Routesetting:

Routesetter.com:

  • A moderately active forum and a blog full of items that may be useful to home wall users (most things are directed to Climbing Gyms and the routesetters in those gyms)

Climbing Hold Review:

  • Great resource on specific climbing holds that they have reviewed. Lots of good information here and it helps to see the holds in use and more detailed then on the product websites

    Hi Andy,
I have searched the interwebz far and near and I can’t figure out how to attach the volumes like your cool Optimus Prime volume to the wall. I saw what looked to be kind of a cool tongue and groove thingy, but not enough detail for me to replicate. Any resources for that?

Great website – i will be here often… bldg my husband a detached garage with a woodie in the attic for me 🙂

  1. Hey Mary –

I have tried several ways and for the home wall owner the easiest is just to screw the volume onto the wall. It only takes a couple screws and it will not really do any damage to the actual wall itself. This is much easier then trying to build a fastener system.

The Soill volume fastener system is the best that I have seen and you can see that here: http://www.soillholds.com/files/volumeinstallguide.pdf although I feel that it is overkill for a home wall as most home walls are wood and not concrete or fiberglass like so many commercial gyms.

Glad you like the site, it has been slowly built and a lot more is coming.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if you figure out any ways to mount your volumes.

    – Andy
