About

The Home Climbing Wall Resource was started when I realized how many people are out there looking to build their first climbing wall, improve upon their current woody, or find out some tips and tricks to enjoy their wall that much more. It seemed the same information was constantly repeated on resources such as MountainProject and that all of the other sites on the internet had adequate information but was missing a lot of the little tips/tricks.

The goal of this website is to hopefully accomplish these things:

  • Provide the Basics for Building Your First Wall
  • Provide Advanced Resources Once Your Wall is Built
  • Give Experienced Wall Owners Inspiration, Tips, and Tricks to Continue Enjoying Their Wall

If you are a brand-new beginner or someone who feels there wall has gone “stale”, there should be information for everyone. Additionally I am always looking for feedback, tips, and tricks to make home climbing walls that much better so please leave comments below on the site and I will always incorporate those or try to answer your questions.

I built my first wall in 2005 when I realized the potential of a free-standing wall. Being in college we were renting out house and traditional ways of making “permanent” home woodies seemed unlikely. Luckily I stumbled upon someone who built a free-standing wall in their backyard and I was instantly inspired.

Since then I have built four different walls for personal use and continue to expand my knowledge on adding features, improving the wall, route-setting, and climbing holds.

I will admit that I am not the best climber in the world, but I love to go climbing and having a home woody has brought a lot more into my life then any climbing gym could ever offer. It is your own personal work-out space and the options are virtually unlimited.

Besides trying to provide a home climbing wall resource I love the outdoors and try to capture the moments in my photography which are highlighted on the main website: http://andylibrande.com and my blog at http://andylibrande.com/news/
