For the second long weekend trip the program we were with gave us a spending amount and let us do whatever we wanted with it. So with my Ecuadorian friend Andres, we set out on an adventure that lead us to Huangshan Mountain (Yellow Mountain)and the famous city of Nanjing. Huangshan is reputed to be one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in China and based on what I saw I would agree with that statement. The trip was insane, we took a 20 hour train to Huangshan, a mini-bus to the mountain, hiked the mountain, stayed at a hostel overnight, hiked down, caught a train and slept on the train to Nanjing, checked out Nanjing, hopped on a train back to Beijing overnight to arrive the next morning 10 minutes before class started smelling pretty horrible. All of this on Andres and mine limited Chinese and all food, transportation, and lodging costing each of us around $125 U.S. dollars...damn I love China.
