The YongHe Gong Temple surprisingly survived the many turmoils that destroyed many other historical sites, and it's current condition is quite a site. The largest Buddhist temple in Beijing it highlights the new Buddhists (the trendy-dressed younger generation) vs. the highly dedicated monks. It contains many amazing relics such as a massive 4 story Buddha carved out of a single piece of wood and is the largest wood carving in the world.
